Many foods have blood thinning properties. For that reason, we have listed below a dietary guideline to promote less bleeding and bruising, ultimately resulting in a quicker recovery. It is recommended to begin following the guideline below 7–10 days prior to your procedure unless directed otherwise.

Safe

  • Tylenol, Acetaminophen
  • Arnica
  • Pineapples and Pineapple Juice
  • White and Brown Rice
  • Chicken, Turkey, Beef, Pork
  • Tofu
  • Beans, Lentils
  • All Green Vegetables: Lettuce, Kale, Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, etc.
  • Citrus Fruits
  • Bread
  • Milk
  • Yogurt
  • Eggs

× Avoid

  • Alcohol
  • Aspirin
  • Motrin, Ibuprofen
  • Advil, Aleve, Excedrin
  • Naprosyn
  • NSAIDs (Celebrex, Meloxicam, Diclofenac and some cold medicines)
  • Blood Thinners: Coumadin, Warfarin, Plavix, Eliquis * These are to be discontinued as directed by Dr. Hargrove per medical clearance.
  • Fish and Fish Oil
  • Vitamin E
  • Avocado, Guacamole
  • Pomegranate, Grapes, Berries, Papaya
  • Turmeric, Garlic, Ginger, Cinnamon, Oregano, Cayenne Pepper
  • Tomatoes
  • Potatoes
